work with us
We welcome applicants for undergrad research, master's, phd and postdoc.
Master's applicants must adhere to the PPGCC calendar (two applications per year, one usually in April to start in August, and one in October to start in March). Postdoc positions are not available by default and it's best if you apply at least 1 year in advance.
We expect all applicants to student positions to submit a straightforward CV and transcripts with recent grades. Postdoc applicants should submit a CV with all publications and a short research statement.
apply at veqtor@dcc.ufmg.br
Please check our main topics of interest below.
Quantum computing / quantum information
We carry out research in theoretical aspects of quantum information theory, specially those connected to combinatorics or semidefinite optimization. We also work in algorithms for quantum computing, specially with a focus on quantum finance and quantum machine learning.
All applicants interested in starting to work on the topic with us must have had some previous experience (either research or courses). In case you are from UFMG and are new to the topic, please take my Quantum Computing class before applying (it is usually offered once a year, in the first semester).
Algebraic graph theory and semidefinite optimization
If you are passionate about graphs and linear algebra, this is for you. Most of our research here is in deep and theoretical topics, but we are also interested in SDP applications to real-world problems (finance, clustering, etc).
Applied math / machine learning (neural nets)
We have several projects that involve applied math and deep learning, to various degrees of complexity and scope. If you are generally interested in mathematics (specially linear algebra and graphs) and would like to apply to real world problems, we usually have positions for undergrad or grad researcher.
